Patient: #60009
Case Description
60-year-old female who had saline implants placed 20 years earlier with a partial deflation of her right sided implant. She wanted replacement of the implants with a similar size. Revision augmentation was performed with 560 cc silicone moderate profile implants. Using a technique called capsulorrhaphy her new implants were placed in an improved pocket giving the breasts improved shape and cleavage.
Procedure
Under general anesthesia, the surgeon makes an incision in inconspicuous areas to minimize visible scarring. The breast implant is then inserted into a pocket either under the pectoral muscle (a submuscular placement) or directly behind the breast tissue, over the pectoral muscle (a submammary or subglandular placement). The incisions are then closed with layered sutures in the breast tissue and skin adhesives to minimize any visible scar.
